STARTING AT $41,223, PURSUANT TO THE RULES OF THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Membership Enrollment and Administration, the Membership Specialist
duties include but are not limited to the enrollment and regular maintenance of membership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Processes membership applications and generates payroll ordered deduction notices.
2. Generates payroll notices for dues deductions changes as well as performs maintenance to the data base to
update information.
3. Performs necessary research as a result of periodic member/non-member/financial core reporting.
4. Communicates with members (active and retirees), payroll offices, local and unit officers and CSEA staff
concerning dues deductions or deductions for group insurance programs, membership status or
membership cards.
5. Updates members’ records to reflect changes such as salary, dues rate, address and local/unit assignment.
6. Issues replacement membership cards.
7. Assists with member billing when necessary.
8. Reviews payroll information and reconciles member accounts using appropriate CSEA data systems.
9. Ensures timely processing of grievance representative/shop steward and training information.
10. Audits member accounts and makes necessary corrections.
11. Works with Insurance Division to process deductions for insurance products and annual rate changes.
12. Collaborates with Lead Membership Specialist and Senior Secretarial Office Assistant/Membership to
address membership status concerns.
13. Processes updates from the CSEA website, responds to inquiries from the website and may assist members
with website access.
14. Responds to members’ inquiries via phone and/or mail to verify membership status, local or unit
assignment and refers members to other departments when necessary.
15. Processes daily mail and correspondence.
16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency.
Good telephone manner.
AND
Ability to operate a standard alphanumeric keyboard.
Must be able to pass tests administered by Human Resources Department.
Advancement to the next grade level upon completion of two years of satisfactory performance as determined by
Department Head.
